Week 1 and I’m proud of how far I’ve come. If you’re confused by what I’m referring to, check out the intro post on my Countdown to Forty Transformation Tale.
Week 1 – Body
I hit my step count every day in week 1 except for today. It’s Sunday and it’s too early to tell if I’ll hit it, but it’s been a long weekend so I’m not going to be upset with myself if I miss it by a few steps. I have hit five days of exercise on top of the 10,000+ steps per day. Water consumption remains no problem for me as I blow through four or five 20 ounce glasses of water a day. My big area of improvement is to hit more yoga this week.
Obviously, in the course of a week I’m not going to see a lot of change, but I feel great. Other than some sinus pressure and headache on Saturday, I’m feeling a lot better already.
Week 1 – Mind
Morning pages are one of my favorite life changes and honestly, the easiest thing to stick with. I truly enjoying purging all of the gunk blocking up my mind each day. Admittedly, I skipped this morning and am honestly enjoying the day off of everything. It does help me work through issues so I can focus on my work in progress. Most days this week I managed to spend time working through an idea I’ve been sitting on for months.
Thirty minutes of reading is also easily managed – in fact, I am reading more like an hour or two a day to keep pushing out book reviews for my BooksByViolet blog. After spending most of yesterday at the ball field, I missed my first day of reading this week. I did, however, manage to get some time in today.
Mentally, I’m still a little jumbled though morning pages offer a reprieve. As I become more accustomed to this routine, I expect to find more clarity of thought and hit my goals with greater ease.
Because of some posts we have scheduled for next week, there won’t be another update until Week 3. The best part is how supportive the kids are being in this whole process.
