I admit it, I had a little backslide this past week. September was a great month for me in many ways but some sinus and migraine issues kept me down a few days this month. It happens, I know it does, but it still gets me down a little.
Something you may not know about me is that I don’t like pop/soda. It reminds me of being sick because I only ever drink it when I’m feeling like crap. My kids know that if I pull out a Coke I’m in a bad place. This past week, I had two 16oz. Cherry Cokes. Not a good thing. It’s not that I’m some crazy health food person now, I just don’t really like the feeling after drinking pop/soda. I start out with coffee in the morning, shift to water, and then maybe a beer or glass of wine at night. It’s been part of my goals, as you know. But, I’ve even fallen off on the water with all these sinus issues and opted for tea or more coffee than usual. Granted, I drink tea plain so it’s little more than warm water and it has its own benefits.
Needless to say, I didn’t hit my step count a few days, didn’t read or work on my creative and professional advancement as much as I should have. It was a bit of a disappointment for me to be sure.
I’m making a comeback and it is not as tough as I thought it would be. I think this speaks to the habits I’ve formed since starting this back in July. If I don’t hit my goals I feel guilty about it and work harder the next day to hit them. Not only am I trying to make my goals a priority and part of my typical day, my kids are helping with it.
Actually, I have good news to share. I’m definitely dropping inches here. Two pair of my causal pants are baggy to the point I shouldn’t really wear them anymore. Jeans that used to squeeze and pinch are now actually quite comfortable. And, shirts that were too snug to wear properly are actually a little flowy. On top of that, I donned my kiddo’s catcher’s gear the other day, caught for her, and was able to walk and move comfortably the days afterward! I can’t remember the last time I was that active and woke up with no real fallout the next day. Score!
As for morning pages, creativity, and the blogging, I’m doing alright. I’ve got two stories in progress and I’ve taken two webinars. Morning pages are habit now, I write them every day and use them as a brain dump. My day just starts better when I get those pages in.
Where I’m At
As I said, clothes are fitting much better, I’m moving forward and feeling better about everything most days. I definitely have a huge month coming up – National Novel Writing Month a.k.a. NaNoWriMo a.k.a. NaNo and that means some of the creative elements of my goals will fall by the wayside while I focus on writing my novel. This year, I’m doing a really exciting piece that I’ve been researching and building in my mind for a few months.
