Karmic Chaos FandomFest 2013 Steampunk costumes

Steampunk Alice in Wonderland

Autumn opted to go as Steampunk Alice to accompany my Mad Hatter. We made her outfit out of cotton and altered a few patterns into one. We embellished with a variety of buttons, iron-ons, and lace. Layered under-skirting gives volume of the skirt and grommets inserted in the back for a lace-up effect.

I wore my Mad Hatter costume on Friday, but Saturday I was Steampunk Willy Wonka. The hat is cardboard with a TON of embellishments that made it a touch heavy, but it was a lot of fun and I was able to give away some Willy Wonka candy!

And Sunday I was Steampunk Dorothy from Oz. This was the least expensive to make, all lightweight cottons and scrap fabrics plus a basket I had from something else. I dipped an old pair of shoes in glue and then red glitter to make the “ruby slippers.”

It was SO much fun and the costumes were a huge hit – especially Willy Wonka!
