I recently read 1984 as my independent read for summer reading. I loved it and hated it at the same time. It was a love/hate thing, you know? Here, let me explain:
Why I loved 1984
Ohhh, how I oved the message of this book. It was actually very interesting and intriguing. The way their minds work, what is happening in the world, and how easy it is to manipiulate people. If you want to be hit by a ton of books but not get hurt, read 1984, it will literally knock your socks off.
Why I hated 1984
Now, the saddest thing about 1984 is the fact that it could actually happen. Hate on me all you want, but you know it is true. The telescreens, the manipulation, Big Brother. You’ll know what I mean when you read it. I could seriously see this happening though. As soon as the President, or anybody for that matter, tries to put telescreens in our houses in every room, I am moving! The way our world is now, if that happened, we would become just like the world in 1984 and nothing could stop it from happening.
I give this book a 5 star for its accurate predictions of what the world could become in 2019. Maybe the name should be changed to 2019. Then it could be a very excellent hypothisis on what the United States could become. Good job George Orwell!
